Job Description and QualificationsAir Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced I&E Technician (Electrician) for its New Orleans, LA facility.
The basic function of this role is the responsibility for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation/ electrical equipment at the New Orleans Facility and associated Satellites. The primary focus is on the inspection, repair, and preventive activities associated with electrical equipment. The electrical equipment involved includes: motors, breakers, switchgear, and high voltage substation distribution equipment ranging from 480v up to 13.8Kv. The facilities at which work is performed (New Orleans & Satellites) are located mainly in Louisiana and Mississippi; however, travel through-out the Gulf Coast and Texas is possible.
Applicants must be able to:
- Read blueprints, P&ID's, single-lines, ladder logic, and wiring schematics.
- Effectively use typical test and calibration equipment, including digital and analog multi-meters, meggers, and laptops for equipment communication.
- Follow step-by-step calibration procedures.
- Use computerized systems to enter and retrieve data.
- Troubleshoot and repair 480 VAC 3 phase motor controls as well as 120 VAC control circuits.
- Troubleshoot PLC problems through knowledge of PLC logic and operations.
Work with and troubleshoot the following:
Large and small synchronous and induction motors
Field Application Panels for synchronous motors
High voltage and low voltage relays
Transformers
Gas circuit breakers
Solenoids
Limit & Proximity Switches
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED
- Trade/Technical degree or apprenticeship in a related field
- Entry level candidates with SkillsUSA membership and the ability to demonstrate PDP leadership competencies are strongly encouraged to apply
- Military service in a related field a plus but not required (Aviation Electrician, Electronics Technician, Gas Turbine Technician, etc.)
- 4 years of Electromechanical or Instrumentation & Electrical experience
- Fabrication, wiring and hook up experience of Instrumentation and Electrical equipment.
- Detail oriented and willing to document details appropriately.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills.
- Experience with high voltage switching equipment (4160V and above)
- Strong personal safety philosophy.
- Must be team oriented and have a willingness to learn and further develop technical skills.
