Description Key Focus
* Identify market needs and align Albemarle to capture increased value for profit and growth opportunities
- including but not limited to value proposition, product positioning, extending / expanding product line, acquisition / divestiture, capital investment, and market alliances
* Exploit Albemarle's strengths and develop plan for overcoming weaknesses as part of the strategy
* Clearly define the business strategy and layout the necessary execution to successfully capture additional market value
* Internally sell the strategy and align with Albemarle's overall corporate objectives
* Lead the business operating team in the execution of the strategy
Responsibilities
* Profitability and growth of the business
* Identify and acquire required resources (personnel and capital) to execute the business strategy
* Get the business team, set in a matrix organization, to move efficiently with singular purpose
- Set the goals / objectives of each business team function -- manufacturing, R&D, sales, marketing, finance, purchasing, logistics, HS&E, etc...
- Hold accountable each group / organization within the business team on execution
* Measure progress of business against growth objectives
* Anticipate and identify market changes that impact business strategy
- Modify and communicate necessary business changes to senior management and the business team
* Distill fragmented and occasionally incomplete information acquired by business team members and pull into a coherent evaluation of the market (customers, competitors, and suppliers)
* Support development of business team members
Accountabilities
* Manage the contributing factors to the business profit and loss (P&L) as well as its liabilities and assets (balance sheet)
- Including but not limited to GS&A costs, price - volume profit relationship, cash to cash, return on assets
* Balancing short term profit objectives with needs for long term growth
* Define progress / plan and manage the internal expectations with corporate leadership
Requirements
*
BS Chemical Engineering degree
*
GPA 2.8 or higher
* Strong written and verbal communications skills
Educational
Requirements 1. BS Engineering (preferably Chemical), finance or accounting
2. Law degree or MBA from upper tier business school (FT program preferred)
