- Purpose of Announcement
EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JEFFERSON COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAMS AND FOR FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.
This employment list may also be used for FUTURE East & West Jefferson vacancies in various Departments.
- Kind of Work
Under direct supervision, the purpose of this position is to plan, organize, implement, and coordinate with other classroom teaching staff, classroom activities to ensure the educational, social/emotional, medical and nutritional requirements of the HS B-5 Program and the children are met. Employees in this classification perform professional and administrative work. The EHS teacher is responsible for the active supervision of all infant/toddlers and volunteers. The EHS Teacher is responsible for the daily activities of the class to provide for the overall comprehensive development of each infant and toddler and maintaining the classroom environment, communicating daily with parents concerning children's activities.
- Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination
Applicants must meet one (1) of the following:
1. Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent and certification as an Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA).
2. Possession of an accredited Associate's degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education (ECE), or an equivalent education major focusing on child development, including successful completion of coursework with a specific focus on infants/toddlers (ages birth to 3 years).
3. Possession of an accredited Associate's degree (or higher) in any major of study, to include at least eighteen (18) credit hours relating to ECE*; PLUS: must have successful completion of coursework with a specific focus on infants/toddlers or responsible experience working with infants/toddlers at a registered school or child care center.
*Coursework relating to ECE may include courses offered in various college departments (e.g., Education, Psychology, Library Sciences, Recreation...etc.) but must address early childhood education or child development with a focus on preschool aged children.
NOTE: Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (Louisiana R.S. 15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application.

(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)
The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment. The information is subject to verification and the Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.
