- Job Summary
•Advises and assists students in making informed college major and career choices.
•Works with college faculty district-wide and other community college personnel to remain current with transferability of courses, majors, and admissions requirements.
•Works with other student/outreach staff and faculty to assist students; develop and implement retention plans, and perform other duties to ensure students are successful.
•Develop strategies to recruit and retain students pursuing non-traditional occupations.
- Examples of Duties
•Develop and implement an early alert system by working with faculty to provide timely feedback to students regarding their academic progress.
•Identify students whose behaviors indicate a lack of academic success strategies, and to refer students for academic skills assistance, including tutoring, counseling, and/or career guidance.
•Stay current with trends and best practices regarding student retention, develop retention strategies for the college, and work closely with faculty, student/outreach services staff, and other LDCC staff in implementing, evaluating, and improving retention strategies.
•Develop and enhance academic support of 1st-year and non-traditional students.
•Place a special emphasis on closing the gap between special population students and non-special population students.
•Analyze statistical data for retention studies.
•Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Student Success Services or the Executive Director of Enrollment Management.
- Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred with at least three years of experience creating student retention programs.
