MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No experience or training is required.

Job Concepts

Function of Work:
To receive and transmit information and instructions by two-way radio equipment, telephone, computer equipment, and teletype.

Level of Work:
Experienced.

Supervision Received:
General from a higher ranking Police Officer.

Supervision Exercised:
None.

Location of Work:
All agencies having a Police Division.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Radio Operator jobs by specialized radio dispatch operations.

Examples of Work

Receives and transmits messages over a two-way radio.

Answers the telephone, takes messages, and gives out information.

Checks for stolen vehicles, stolen license plates, wanted persons, and invalid drivers' licenses through State Police and N.C.I.C. computers.

Dispatches wreckers and ambulances.

Enters lost or stolen license plates into computer.

Maintains daily logs of radio and teletype activities.
