This is a part time (WORK AS EMPLOYED/ NEEDED) position. This position will be working an average between 24-30 hours per week. The employee is prohibited from working more than 1245 hours within 365 days of the hire date.

The Louisiana Schools for the Deaf and Visually Impaired (LSDVI) includes two Louisiana
Special Schools (LSS) recognized as elementary and secondary school systems. Both schools
occupy the same campus servicing students throughout the state who are deaf, hard of hear
hearing and/or visually impaired. LSDVI operates seven days a week 24 hours a day
Preference may be given to applicants who have American Sign Language skills.

Must work toward acquiring appropriate level of sign language skills in order to communicate
with the faculty/staff/students that are deaf/hearing impaired.

LSDVI is on 116 acres and includes 22 buildings with 486, 029 square feet under roof.
The incumbent must be able to perform these assigned duties without significant risk of
substantial harm to his/ger own safety/security and safety/security of others.

Physical Activity Level - 1: Work is performed in physically comfortable positions: sitting,
standing, or walking. Light effort is required for such tasks as carrying papers, books, small
parts, hand tools or utensils, or similar small items or packages. Work requires very little or
occasional light physical effort.

Two years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or numerical computation.
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience provided that three semester hours of each thirty are in accounting.
An Associate Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university will substitute for all of the required experience.
An Associate Degree in Accounting Technology from a Louisiana Technical College accredited by the Council on Occupational Education will substitute for all of the required experience.
It will not be necessary to provide an official position description (SF-3), or to provide percentages of time performing the qualifying duties in order to be credited with the experience.
NOTE (for the first and second substitutions):
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies:  the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Commission of Higher Education; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Serves as the first level of review and approval of financial transactions relative to collections, refunds, funds disbursement, cost accounting, expenditure control, budgeting, grants management, program analysis, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and completeness of calculations, legitimacy of transactions, and proper authorization.

Responsible for posting and journalizing a variety of small accounts or one or more large accounts of limited complexity.
